Sex, Money, Gangs: Human Trafficking and the Intersection with Criminal Street Gangs

This course features a question-and-answer session with the mother of a Fairfax County resident whose daughter was trafficked by a highly organized gang. Susan (the mother) has gone on to found her own organization which now helps parents who are experiencing the trauma that she and her family experienced ten years ago.

 Curriculum Overview

 Course Title: Sex Money Gangs: Human Trafficking and the Intersection with Criminal Street Gangs

Learning Goal: To enable attendees to understand, identify, and address gang-controlled sex trafficking within their professional scope, with a focus on health-related consequences and immediate response strategies.

Welcome and Introductions (8:30 AM – 8:45 AM)

Module 1: Gangs 101 (8:45 AM – 9:40 AM)

Description: A sweeping overview of all things gang-related including legal definitions, how to identify gangs, and how they operate.

Module 2: Gang-Controlled Sex Trafficking (9:45 AM – 10:40 AM)

Description: An overview of gang-controlled sex trafficking, understanding its scope, and distinguishing it from other forms of trafficking.

Module 3: Identification of Trafficking Victims (10:45 AM – 11:40 AM)

Description: Training on how to recognize signs and indicators of gang-controlled trafficking, with an emphasis on healthcare settings.

 Module 4: Health Consequences of Trafficking (11:45 AM – 12:40 PM)

Description: Discussion on the physical and mental health impacts of trafficking on victims, with a focus on gang-controlled scenarios.

This course features a question-and-answer session with a woman who was trafficked by her own family. She has gone on to become a successful business woman but is committed to helping professionals understand the dynamics in identifying and serving the familial trafficked child.

Course Title: Ultimate Betrayal: A Study on Familial Trafficking

Learning Goal: To equip attendees with the necessary skills to identify, support, and advocate for victims of familial trafficking, emphasizing psychological support and intervention strategies.

Upon completion of this conference, attendees will be able to:
